![]() ![]() Considering altering skills files via mod means you can only play alone or with others who have the same mod installed, if players install that same skill-altering mod so they can play together then both players obviously must consent to those skill alterations being enabled in their game session. In order to play co-op you need to be in online mode, so altered skills files are not loaded even when playing with friends who consent to the same changes being enabled in the game.Īs for why this change was made, we cannot know for sure. ![]() Some updates ago they changed it so certain 'skills' files (among select others) are kind of "protected" from altered versions being loaded if your game is set to online mode even if you're only playing single player. It might be a good idea to also delete any "plsdownload_" temporary files from your 'Documents\DyingLight\out' folder just in case the game still tries to load those versions over your modified skills files in your Data3.pak file. Right-click > "Open with" and select Notepad, or open Notepad first and then just drag the file onto its window are quick ways to open it in notepad)Ĥ) On line 8 of the file you will see this:ĮnablePLS(1)- Change that 1 to be 0 (a zero)ĮnablePLS(0)5) Save the change to the file and close itĦ) Open your installed '.\Dying Light\DW\Data3.pak' file with Winrar/7z and enter its "data" folderħ) Copy the "restclient.scr" file you altered into this Data3.pak file WinRar/7z windowĨ) Share this Data3.pak file with your friend/co-op partner and try to connect to each other again ("scr" files are text files, not screen saver files. This 'PLS' system is also used to force unaltered versions of files to be used even if they are unrelated to a community event and primarily relates to only certain 'skills' files (like "default_levels.xml"), but also some other files (like "difficultyparams.scr").ġ) Open the Data0.pak file in your game installation's "DW" folder using WinRar/7zip software and then enter the "data" folder it containsĢ) Scroll down to and then copy the "restclient.scr" file to your computer someplace and close this open Data0.pak windowģ) Open the copied "restclient.scr" file with Notepad/Notepad++ ![]() When a community event is active, the game's "PLS" system downloads a temporary 'event version' of one or more file to your 'Documents\DyingLight\out' folder called "plsdownload_slot_****_game_file_name.xxx" and this event version is forced to be used by the game over both vanilla game files and those altered by mods. The altered files in the Data3.pak file are used over the vanilla files in the Data0.pak file. This Data3.pak file is then used or shared for others to also have the changes in their game or in order to play co-op with those changes present. A modder takes a copy of one or more files from the Data0.pak file, alters them, then places them into the Data3.pak file. Vanilla game files generally exist in the '.Dying Light\DW\Data0.pak' file (some DLC files exist in their separate DataDLC#_#.pak files in their respective DLC folders). You will likely need to add the "restclient.scr" file to your Data3.pak file edited to disable the game's PLS system which forces unaltered versions of skills files to be used over modified versions present in your Data3.pak file.
